The images on this page have been reproduced from a collection of glass photographic plates taken by the Reverend George Walker Hall during the time he was Curate and then Rector of Norton 1884-1929.

He was born in Sheffield in 1855, became Vicar in 1888, the year of his marriage to Annie Gladwin who lived at Norton Grange. The living changed during his tenure from vicar to rector in 1926.

The plates have been donated by Mrs Sue Hill to NHG from her husband Alan's collection.

The plates have been professionally cleaned, conserved  and scanned at very high resolution - preserving the detail of the origial media.

The images presented here are at significantly reduced resolutions - to facilitate acceptable loading times when displayed on the web.

Anyone interested in viewing high definition copies of the images should contact  info:@nortonhistorygroup.org
